Egg-free French Toast
By patty56
Finally, french-toast that is egg-free!
Hi, my names is Patty, mom of six, three with food allergies, I also have food allergies, and, my husband? Diabetic! Phew! Sounds like a crazy household, and you are right, it has been full of challenges....however, my favorite discovery has been to use plain yogurt, rather than applesauce or chunky applesauce, as an egg substitute.
This recipe is for , yes, believe it or not, egg-free French Toast that tastes like the real deal! I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as ours, and finally, are no longer leading a french toast-deprived life!
Egg-Free French Toast
l loaf of freihoffer country white bread (soy-free)
1/2 cup of white sugar
1 cup of milk
2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
3 generous tablespoons of plain yogurt
a dash of cinnamon
Butter
Okay, we're ready now. Mix together milk, vanilla, sugar and plain yogurt.
Whisk all ingredients together until well-blended. Dip each slice of bread into mixture and cook on pre-heated buttered skillet on a medium-high heat. There are a couple of tricks here. First, do not leave your bread in the mixture as you will end up with bread that falls apart, as soon as you dip it, fry it! Also, it takes a little longer to cook than ordianry french toast which contains eggs, i would say about 3 minutes per side until nice and brown.
When you are all done making this recipee, top with powdered sugar, syrup, or whatever else you like on your french toast. It is worth the extra cooking time to be able to serve your family french toast that is safe for them to eat.
Blessings,
Patty

hi patty!!! i also see that you say to combine milk but i need an exact amount. Plz tell mua(me).
sorry!!!! I didn't realize i didn't specify.....a couple of cups.....whisk together, and go for it!!!!! Good luck!
Also, i found that the bisquik mix for pancakes works great without eggs....just add extra milk for a smooth consistancy. Sometimes i will add the yogurt (one large tablespoon for each egg). . . other times, if i don't have any plain or vanilla yogurt on hand, i increase the milk by a quarter cup or so to a smooth consistency!
Very nice recipe, but you didn't put milk in? Just wondering.... anyway well done tasted great!
Hi patty! Im 13 and take a cokking class in middle school and we are doing a competition called golden whisk and id like to ask if i can use this... It sounds yummy!
Hi Patty, thanks for the french toast recipe! My son is allergic to eggs also. Do you have a great cake recipe without eggs? He loves strawberries but has never been able to have a birthday cake, he's only six!
THX, RENE
RENE - I have a really good recipe for cake - my daughter is allergic to eggs. This works best with chocolate cake.
Take 1 regular-size box of chocolate cake and mix one regular size can of DIET COKE in it. Immediately use electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Bake according to instructions. DO NOT ADD ANYTHING ELSE - only add the diet coke. This works best with cupcakes using cupcake liners. Or leaving it in a 9 x 13 cake pan and cutting cake squares. It does not work well if you are trying to do a 2 layer round cake or a as the cake tends to be crumbly and is difficult to spread frosting on it. I like Duncan Hinz or Betty Crocker brands best. Pillsbury turns out too gooey for this recipe.
thx dont have eggs
Thank you so much for this recipe! I'm going to try this over the weekend. My boyfriend is allergic to eggs so he's never been able to enjoy the wonderful taste of french toast!!
one cup of milk per batch!!!!
So sorry!!!!
thank you so much for the recipe cant wait to try!
Dear All: Please visit my other bog spot at nj.com parental advice!
Happy allergen free eating!
Patty
Patty - thank you so much for this recipe! I've tried a banana-based french toast recipe for my son with egg allergies, but it was a failure. Thanks for your tips, too!
For cakes I substitute 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt for each
Egg. You don't have to add vanilla extract either.
This works for cookies too. The only
Baking problem I have had is brownies from a
Box. I buy the gluten free ones and they do
Bake up fine. I am going to try the diet coke
Top in my brownies! Thanks for the tip:)!
Het, nice recipe. MY mum loves french toast and I was going to make her some but we didnt have eggs! Then I searched this and found it. Thanks so much!!!!
Rene i use 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt to substitute
For one egg. I find i am better off using an
81/2 x 11 glass pan and making birthday
Cakes as sheet cakes as it is true, without eggs
The cakes are moister. I frost and decorate thd
Cake right in the glass pan! As it is see through
It does not detract ftom the appearance of ghe
Birthdsy cske at dll. I also refridgerate the cake
As it is firmer and ibrefridgerate the leftovers!
I alsi have some great coffee cake and ccone
And strawberry short xake recipees
Which i am going to share for yiu in
A new blog....all egg free of course:)
Blessings, patty
you just put us in luck.. lol.
different when make cakes or anything I have not tried give her French toast. But she eats cake and everything with no problems
you talk about allergies and use WHITE SUGAR . . . wake up everybody , this stuff is terrible for the body!! AND DIET COKE FULL OF Aspartine. Do some research guys this is why you have allergies.
Stop eating white sugar, drinking diet coke as if it is better than the normal ??? WAKE UP
Patty,
My husband has an egg allergy. Finally he can eat french toast. Thx!
For birthdays, I use this recipe...i use the batter and do layer cakes or cupcakes when desired, also..
Crazy Cake:
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups cold water
Directions
Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, and cocoa together into a 9 x 13 inch ungreased cake pan. Make three wells. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third well. Pour cold water over all, and stir well with fork.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes, or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Frost with your favorite icing.
After trying different recipes for 15 years..finally found this one that really works for brownies...Tastes like brownies and is super simple. Enjoy!
Triple Fudge Brownies:
1...3.9oz pkg. instant chocolate pudding
1...18.4 oz pkg chocolate cake mix
2...cups chocolate chips
Make pudding by directions on box. Stir in the dry cake mix. Stir in chocolate chips. Blend well. Bake in 9X13 pan (greased) 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes...(Sometimes longer..the middle seems to cook slower in my oven).
dear Ishi,
yes sugar and the chemicals in soda are bad for you... very bad. But if you don't have them all of the time it is okay. Think if them a a treat not a daily thing. The less sugar you have is better but that doesn't mean cancel it all out of your diet. I am allergic to gluten and eggs but sugar did show up on my chart as a low allergy. I don't eat very much and it does help a little but i don't cancel it out. Heres a fact we eat about 1/3 pound of sugar every day. Sugar can eventually become a drug if you have too much and then you will become addicted but that takes a lot of sugar. So don't cancel it out of your diet just watch out for it and enjoy it. you can watch a part of sixty minutes to find out maor about what sugar does to the body.
But my main thing that i would like to say is that was try rude of you to put that comment on this website. That recipe may help and child get his first birthday cake. so i say put the soda in every once in a while and eat up cuz its delicious.

Hi Patty.. I see that you have to combine milk but it does not say how much in the ingredient list. Please tell!
